About The Position

The Machine Laborer supports Rope Mill production by moving materials, assisting with machine set-ups, preparing and packing finished goods, completing required documentation, and maintaining a safe, organized work area. This role follows standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and applicable work instructions to meet internal and external customer needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification.
  • Basic computer skills required or ability to learn company systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and follow work orders, specifications, and detailed instructions.
  • Ability to use basic math, including decimals and fractions, and use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or similar instruments.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound routine decisions, and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift on a concrete floor.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials frequently, including lifting up to 70 pounds by hand and moving heavier items with mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, use proper body mechanics, and safely handle tools such as hand cutters.
  • Ability to visually inspect products and monitor equipment with strong hand-eye-foot coordination and sustained attention.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with machine set-ups, material staging, and movement of raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods.
  • Load, unload, transport, pack, and ship materials and products using manual or mechanical handling equipment.
  • Operate approved company equipment, including forklifts and company vehicles, safely and in accordance with procedures.
  • Complete required production, shipping, transfer, inspection, and labeling records accurately and on time.
  • Perform housekeeping and basic preventive maintenance to keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and functional.
  • Communicate production issues, equipment concerns, and material needs to supervisors, technicians, and team members.
  • Support inventory, training, continuous improvement, and cross-department work as needed.
  • Follow all company, quality, and safety policies and procedures, and perform work in a safety-conscious manner.
