About the position
The LVN will provide direct nursing services to patients struggling with substance use disorders, focusing on detoxification, ongoing assessment, evaluations, and harm reduction. The role involves developing treatment plans, collaborating with healthcare providers, and ensuring a safe therapeutic environment for patients in a community-based treatment model.
Responsibilities
- Administers medications and provides medication education to patients.
- Assists with laboratory collection and other medical treatments/interventions.
- Assists with detoxification care.
- Trains new nursing staff in clinic duties in coordination with the Director of Nursing.
- Communicates with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care.
- Educates patients about health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Facilitates referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities.
- Maintains pharmaceutical oversight of medication samples for specified units.
- Monitors various supply inventory and ensures proper rotation of expiring medications.
- Provides daily nursing services, including quality nursing care and case management services for clients.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered LVN/LPN licensed in Texas.
- At least one year of professional nursing experience, preferably in a detox unit or outpatient setting.
- Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification, de-escalation training, and ASAM training.
- Detoxification proficiency and understanding of withdrawal signs and monitoring procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle continuous customer contact.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Additional language abilities desirable.
