About the position

Grady Health System is dedicated to providing a variety of career paths for professional growth, catering to individuals at all stages of their careers. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care under the supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician. This position is integral to maintaining a safe environment for patients, educating them and their families, and effectively communicating health information. The LPN is involved in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare services, ensuring that patient care is both comprehensive and responsive to individual needs. In addition to direct patient care, the LPN serves as a patient advocate, engages in teaching, and contributes to performance improvement initiatives. The role also includes supervising unlicensed personnel, ensuring that all team members adhere to the highest standards of care. The LPN must be adaptable, as they may be required to float to different units within the department to meet staffing needs, particularly in PRN (as needed) roles. This flexibility is essential for maintaining safe staffing levels across nursing units, especially during peak times or emergencies. The position requires a commitment to working a minimum of four shifts per schedule, with the understanding that hours are based on the needs of the unit and are not guaranteed. PRN staff must also be prepared to work one weekend shift every four weeks and two holidays per year, which includes one major holiday and one minor holiday. This structure ensures that Grady Health System can provide continuous, high-quality care to its patients while also supporting the professional development of its nursing staff.
