About The Position

Be part of a fast-paced, high energy, team supporting Strategic Systems Programs Re-Entry Branch on the Sea Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) program as the Logistics and Fleet Integration Lead Engineer. This unique and challenging role requires a strong understanding of both Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear weapon systems and Department of War (DoW) delivery platforms. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical liaison, managing complex interfaces, ensuring system compatibility, and driving successful integration activities throughout the program lifecycle. The candidate should be familiar with nuclear weapon programs and be able to manage multiple teams for fleet coordination and logistics activities. This position will require the candidate to represent the Re-Entry Branch at various meetings and have a comprehensive understanding of how to lead and manage a project from start to finish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (with 8-10 years' of experience), Master's degree (with 6-8 years' of experience) or a PhD (with 3-5 years' experience) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field. Education can be substituted for submarine/fleet service and subject matter expert knowledge on nuclear programs.
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance required; ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Experience collaborating with government customers, national laboratories, and/or defense contractors.
  • The ability to work well within a team and the ability to collaborate on projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to author technical documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Submarine Navy Officer.
  • Experience with SSP, NNSA, SNL, or LLNL nuclear programs.
  • Experience supporting Fleet operations, Strategic Weapons Facilities, or logistics/maintenance integration.
  • Willingness to learn and become a subject matter expert with various system engineering tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead technical point of contact for integrating DOE‑designed components into shore and fleet operations, coordinating work across multiple government and industry stakeholders.
  • Lead integration efforts across Fleet Support activities, ensuring logistics, production, maintenance, and operational readiness requirements are synchronized with enterprise objectives.
  • Translate fleet operational needs into actionable engineering and logistics requirements; ensure alignment with technical baselines, configuration documentation, and interface definitions. Lead engineering integration efforts across the system lifecycle in accordance with applicable government standards.
  • Lead and manage the development, refinement, and documentation of process flows for Strategic Weapons Facility operations.
  • Interface directly with government customers (DOE and DoW) and external partners, presenting technical findings and fostering strong collaborative relationships.
  • Manage SLCM‑N requirements through all acquisition phases and translate those requirements into actionable design and engineering needs.
  • Develop and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms); collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely completion of milestones and deliverables.
  • Conduct system‑level analyses, including performance modeling, trade studies, and risk assessments, to identify and mitigate integration risks.
  • Lead working groups as a Navy Chair stand‑in or serve as the lead engineer advising the Navy Chair on all matters related to assigned working groups.
  • Represent the Re‑Entry Branch at meetings, ensuring accurate communication of technical positions and program priorities.
  • Produce high‑quality engineering briefs, integration updates, and decision papers for senior leadership, ensuring clarity, rigor, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Develop, review, and validate technical documentation for accuracy; participate in design reviews to ensure requirements traceability and compliance.
  • Apply data‑driven analysis to identify areas of concern and recommend improvements to processes, workflows, and integration performance.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of SP28 mission objectives.
