About the position

As a Locksmith at the Miami Beach Convention Center, you will be responsible for maintaining the security and functionality of all doors and locking mechanisms throughout the venue. This role involves performing routine inspections, repairs, and installations of locks and access control systems, ensuring a secure and efficient environment for events. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will be crucial in addressing any issues that may compromise safety or operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain locks, doors, and security devices throughout the facility
  • Cut and program keys for staff, guests, and vendors
  • Respond to lockout calls and resolve issues promptly
  • Perform routine maintenance on locks, doors, and security systems
  • Collaborate with security team to ensure facility security and access control
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory management
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and best practices in locksmithing
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
  • Perform carpentry tasks such as installing, repairing, and replacing doors, walls, and floors
  • Build and install cabinets, shelving, and other fixtures
  • Conduct repairs on furniture and equipment
  • Assist with event setup and teardown, including installing and removing partitions, ramps, and other structures
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, on projects and repairs
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Locksmith and have a valid Dade County or state locksmith license
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Familiarity with security systems, access control, and electronic locks
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in Locksmithing (e.g., ALOA, ILA) a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred OSHA certification or training
