About the position

The Lock Technician for Safe and Vault is responsible for the technical expertise required to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electronic locking systems. This role involves performing combination changes on various types of mechanical and electronic safe/vault locks, as well as repairing and maintaining safe/vault doors and interior lockers. The technician will also be tasked with opening, repairing, and installing safe deposit box locks, and rekeying or repairing physical security locks and containers. The position requires coordination with administration to efficiently complete projects and work orders, ensuring that all documentation is provided in electronic formats to comply with company procedures. In addition to technical skills, the Lock Technician must maintain and control inventory, accurately listing parts on work orders and proactively replenishing truck stock to meet operational goals. Effective communication is crucial, as the technician must respond to phone calls and emails from other personnel within specified timeframes. Timekeeping is also an essential aspect of the role, requiring accurate reporting of dispatch, arrival, and completion times, as well as the submission of time via Remote Tech weekly. The technician must maintain their security license by adhering to annual continuing education requirements and must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen test. A valid driver’s license and insurance are also necessary for this position. The role demands strong customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to perform under pressure, especially when interacting with bank personnel. The working conditions can be challenging, as the technician may work in loud environments with multiple distractions and extreme temperature ranges.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical & electronic locking systems.
  • Perform combination changes on all types of mechanical and electronic safe/vault locks.
  • Repair and maintain safe/vault doors and interior lockers.
  • Open, repair, and install safe deposit box locks.
  • Rekey or repair physical security locks and containers.
  • Coordinate with administration to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Provide documentation in electronic formats for compliance with company procedures.
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety/security concerns.
  • Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites as needed.
  • Maintain and control inventory, accurately listing parts on work orders.
  • Keep truck stock by proactively replenishing supplies and anticipating parts required to meet goals.
  • Respond to all phone calls from other SCI personnel within four hours and emails within 24 hours.
  • Accurately report dispatch, arrival, and completion times for work orders.
  • Maintain security license by adhering to annual continuing education requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid Guard Card license.
  • Experience in time management.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills, including experience with Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
  • Ability to manage high-stress situations in a calm manner.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
