About the position

As the Location Manager at Zūm, you will oversee the operations of the San Francisco yard, focusing on team development, fleet management, customer relationships, safety compliance, and financial performance. This hands-on role requires a strategic leader who can adapt to changing environments while ensuring the safety and efficiency of student transportation services. You will report directly to the VP of Operations and play a crucial role in driving Zūm's mission and growth in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire operation including fleet, team, training, P&L management, and customer relations.
  • Develop an operational plan that meets customer requirements per contract.
  • Serve as the head liaison with the union.
  • Establish and maintain customer and stakeholder relationships, exceeding expectations.
  • Utilize the Zūm IT infrastructure to ensure KPI targets are met and shared with stakeholders.
  • Spearhead a behavioral safety culture for all employees.
  • Develop and coach Zūm employees to become future leaders.
  • Maintain full P&L accountability and manage multiple sites within the district.
  • Work with Human Resources, Recruiting, and Safety to strategize hiring needs.
  • Ensure fleet readiness in collaboration with the Shop Manager.
  • Maintain accurate fleet inventory and compliance with State, Federal, and Zūm requirements.
  • Oversee the Safety Department to ensure compliance with regulations and record keeping.
  • Manage daily operations and ensure compliance with accident and incident reporting procedures.
  • Review incident reports and submit as applicable.
  • Monitor KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, clean, and efficient operations facility.
  • Oversee the Field Trip/Charter process and execution of Field Trips.
  • Collaborate with the payroll department for timely and accurate payroll processing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of operational leadership experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing teams in a unionized environment.
  • Proven experience managing safety protocols and compliance.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and take a hands-on approach when necessary.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements (CBA) for employee management.
