About The Position

Groves Learning Organization (GLO) is a nonprofit with a fifty-one-year history of supporting students facing language-based learning challenges. Groves Literacy Partnerships (GLP) aims to address statewide literacy disparities and improve accessibility by democratizing evidence-based reading instruction. GLP partners with schools to provide and empower evidence-based reading instruction through professional development and the Groves Literacy Framework®. The model includes comprehensive literacy instruction, intervention curriculum, professional development, personalized educator coaching, and data analysis tools, supporting Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). GLP currently collaborates with over one hundred schools statewide, impacting approximately 12,000 Minnesota students. A Groves Literacy Partnerships Literacy Coach provides essential training, professional development, and coaching to educators and school leaders, focusing on the science of reading and effective instructional practices. Success in this role requires strong coaching skills, expertise in the science of reading, effective communication, a collaborative approach, and supportive feedback skills. Coaches utilize data from student performance and classroom observations to identify areas for improvement, provide support, and track progress. Adaptability, fostering respectful relationships, leadership, and a commitment to continuous learning are crucial. The coach's primary focus is supporting educators in learning science of reading methods and achieving fidelity to the Groves literacy framework. They also collaborate with administrators and teachers to facilitate systemic change and maximize student progress. Additionally, coaches engage in a Groves coaching community, contributing to product improvements, collecting research data, and documenting progress. This position reports to the GLP Coach Enablement Leader.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • At least 10 years of experience as both a classroom educator and a mentor/leader.
  • Experience as a lead teacher or administrator in grades K-3 preferred.
  • Experience in mentoring/coaching other teachers.
  • Ability and willingness to work five days a week remotely from home office, in-person at partnership school locations and/or onsite at GLO when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work with administrators and teachers at partner schools to ensure fidelity of programs and maximize student progress.
  • Develop or maintain curriculum and professional development credentials as determined per partnership.
  • Respond to customer inquiries with accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Communicate customer relationship needs to leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Use GLP's systems to log customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Coach Enablement Leader and the broader GLP team to communicate progress and challenges at partner schools.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant laws and regulations, including data privacy regulations.
  • Ensure fidelity of implementation of the Groves literacy framework within partner organizations.
  • Support and maintain the fidelity of the literacy program being delivered.
  • Maintain accurate records for each organization.
  • Participate in gathering research data and observations for the purpose of answering key research questions.
  • Document progress and challenges at partner schools in GLP systems, identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Actively participate in product and program enhancement and fix recommendations and/or development efforts as time allows.
  • Actively engage and discover the regular releases of new tools and content available through the Groves Method Portal.
  • Communicate effectively with internal GLO and GLP team members and external partners including faculty, staff, leadership, administration, community members, school leaders, educators, and students.
  • Participate in offered training and development.
  • Propose a personalized professional development plan bi-annually.
  • Coordinate teacher training schedules and all training logistics at assigned schools.
  • Complete all assigned work on time and on budget.
