About the position

The Sr. Linux & Windows System Administrator position at Raytheon Technologies involves providing IT systems administration in a mixed environment of Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux. The role requires collaboration with a diverse team to support critical programs with classified information system capabilities, ensuring secure and efficient IT infrastructures. The position demands a strong understanding of server internals, troubleshooting techniques, and the ability to develop solutions for complex IT problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high complexity, including hardware and OS integration.
  • Install and configure software applications as requested by end users.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes.
  • Develop solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems.
  • Work on systems operational 24x7, occasionally requiring work beyond standard hours.
  • Travel to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate, up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Typically, a bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems administration.
  • Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), ESX, or other virtual computing methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • VMware experience highly desired.
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and/or DoD/RMF.
  • In-depth working experience in Windows Server.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Scripting experience.
