About the position

The position involves carefully monitoring all pools and beach areas to ensure the safety of guests and members by responding to emergencies. The role includes providing personal service such as erecting umbrellas and chaise lounges, and regular cleanup of towels and debris. The individual will uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and enforce all beach club policies, rules, and regulations
  • Assist in opening and closing procedures
  • Understand the lifeguard rotation at assigned area and responsibilities of each lifeguard station
  • Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising area at regular intervals, reacting immediately to any emergency
  • Be familiar with the location of all emergency equipment and first-aid supplies
  • Understand the emergency procedure to be followed in case of an accident
  • Provide immediate care by administering first aid and CPR when needed while waiting for emergency teams
  • Provide services such as erecting umbrellas, serving towels, and moving chaise lounges for guests and members
  • Monitor and clean the pool deck area and lounging area for debris, towels, glasses, and other safety hazards
  • Monitor and maintain pools
  • Clean towel room, beach, foot showers and perform other cleaning and maintenance duties on the pool as directed by your supervisor
  • Work cross-departmentally with others to ensure events get set up and run properly
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability
  • Complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues and follow-up on issues as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Execute other duties as delegated by leadership

Requirements

  • Must possess valid Lifeguard certification at time of hire as a condition of employment
  • Must possess valid First Aid certification at time of hire as a condition of employment
  • Must possess valid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) certification at time of hire as a condition of employment
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
