About the position

Genetix IQ is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Life Sciences Research Assistant to support molecular testing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and laboratory experience, particularly in areas such as DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, and qPCR. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to design and perform experiments that align with management initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting experimental results and ensuring that all laboratory tests and results are properly documented. In this role, you will play a key part in achieving departmental goals and meeting project deadlines. It is essential to adhere to all company, industry, state, and federal safety standards while conducting experiments. You will also be tasked with developing experimental plans aimed at improving or achieving desired results. Regular interaction with senior laboratory personnel will be necessary to review progress and present results. Maintaining a clean laboratory environment and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained are also critical responsibilities. The Life Sciences Research Assistant will develop, optimize, and perform assays for qPCR, PCR, and ELISA, contributing to the overall success of the laboratory's research efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and innovative, with a passion for molecular biology and research.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently or within a group to design and perform experiments to properly execute management initiatives.
  • Troubleshoots experimental results.
  • Properly documents laboratory tests and results.
  • Plays a key role in department goals and project deadlines being met.
  • Ensures that all company, industry, state, and federal safety standards are being followed.
  • Develops experimental plans to properly improve or achieve desired results.
  • Interacts with senior laboratory personnel to review progress and present results.
  • Ensures laboratory is clean and equipment is being properly maintained.
  • Develops, optimizes, and performs assays for qPCR, PCR, and ELISA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life science area or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year post-degree molecular biology laboratory experience.
  • Experience with DNA & RNA extraction, PCR, and qPCR is appreciated.
  • Solid communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a large amount of technical data and documentation.
  • Proficiency with standard computer software.
