About the position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) provides a basic and technical level of general nursing care to patients in various correctional health care settings. Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III and clinical guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), the LVN ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients. Responsibilities include providing technical patient care under valid authorization, supporting daily health care operations, and effectively communicating with patients and health care team members. The LVN is responsible for addressing ongoing patient needs, collaborating with physicians and other health care providers, and promoting efficient use of health care resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic and technical nursing care to patients in correctional health care settings.
- Ensure timely and appropriate health care delivery under the supervision of the RN.
- Support daily health care operations and communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Address ongoing patient needs and collaborate with health care providers.
- Promote efficient and cost-effective use of health care resources.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Eligibility for the Licensed Vocational Nurse examination.
