Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) - Uptown Animal Hospital & Urgent Care
About The Position
Uptown Animal Hospital is a growing General Practice and Urgent Care Hybrid facility in Gig Harbor, WA. We are AAHA accredited and open seven days a week. Our team is a compassionate group of veterinary professionals dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care. We are a full-service hospital with in-house diagnostics, digital radiology (including dental), ultrasonography, an onsite pharmacy, and a state-of-the-art surgical suite. We also offer a feline-only waiting area and exam room to minimize stress for our feline patients. Our lobby is designed for client comfort. We are looking for an experienced licensed technician to join our clinic, utilizing their skills in a demanding yet rewarding environment. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and grow.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- LVT/CVT required
- Two to Three Years experience in a veterinary hospital is required
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Avimark Software
- Emergency or Urgent Care experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Triage (verbal and written)
- Client education (verbal and written)
- Customer service - professional and knowledgeable phone etiquette, email, and in-person communication
- Drug calculations/administration
- Anesthesia; induction, monitoring, pre, and post-operative pain control administration, assisting in surgery
- IV catheter placement
- Phlebotomy, cystocentesis, other laboratory collection methods, and prep.
- Processing in-hour lab samples: Bloodwork, Urinalysis, Cytology
- Knowledge of basic emergency procedures
- Medical record-keeping and invoicing
- Intake and Discharge
- Oversee hospitalized patients and recognize changes in status/condition
- Ability to communicate well with a team and provide status updates to Doctors
- All aspects of veterinary nursing care not previously mentioned
- Other tasks as assigned by DVM and/or Hospital Administrator
