About The Position

The Finger Lakes Region is seeking a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a full-time, direct hire position. This role involves providing a full spectrum of respiratory care services, including oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary function testing, and bronchoscopy assistance. The position operates on evening shifts (72 hours per pay period) and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient outcomes in a scenic community. The therapist will assess, implement, and document respiratory care needs for patients of all age groups, manage mechanical ventilators, perform airway management, and conduct various diagnostic tests.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the State of New York (or eligible for licensure)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC (or eligible within 12 months of obtaining NYS Technician License)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assess, implement, and document respiratory care needs for patients across all age groups.
  • Adjust oxygen delivery devices and administer treatments for medication delivery, volume expansion, and bronchial hygiene.
  • Initiate and manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilators.
  • Perform airway management and suctioning specific to patient age and condition.
  • Perform arterial and capillary blood sampling, analyze specimens, and follow critical value protocols.
  • Conduct pulmonary function testing per ATS guidelines.
  • Obtain high-quality 12 Lead EKGs.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for bronchoscopy, assist physicians during procedures, and process specimens.
  • Perform functional checks on patient-owned CPAP and BiPAP equipment.
  • Obtain nasal specimens for Influenza A, Bordetella Pertussis, and RSV testing.
  • Organize and prioritize workload while functioning as part of the respiratory therapy team.
  • Document all pertinent information in patient charts with correct time stamps.
  • Explain treatments and procedures to patients and families.
  • Maintain composure during crisis situations.
  • Assume the charge therapist role when assigned, delegating tasks and responsibilities fairly.
  • Support the learning needs of respiratory therapy, nursing, and paramedic students.
  • Assist with new employee orientation.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
