About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at VitalCore Health Strategies is responsible for delivering quality healthcare services within the scope of practice defined by state regulations. This role involves monitoring patients, administering medications, and providing nursing care in correctional facilities. The LPN will work full-time, with options for day and night shifts, and is expected to contribute to a positive work environment focused on respect and appreciation for staff efforts.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality care consistent with the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act.
- Monitor patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, or Medical Director.
- Administer medications to offenders.
- Document actions in the MAR and medical records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of teaching plans based on individual patient needs.
- Care for wounds with appropriate cleaning and dressing/bandaging.
- Provide care for multiple patients as directed by medical staff.
- Utilize a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each individual patient.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
- Possesses an active BLS certification.
- Knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies.
