About the position

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, you will work with a dedicated team to make a positive difference in the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. This role involves administering medical care and prescribed treatments to residents, monitoring their health needs, and maintaining medical records. You will also provide in-service training to staff and participate in team meetings to discuss resident progress and behavior changes. The position offers a rewarding experience in helping individuals achieve their daily activities and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medical care and prescribed treatments to residents in assigned units.
  • Monitor health needs and health tracking of individuals served.
  • Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Observe and report any changes in the individual's physical or emotional status to the RN.
  • Provide first aid as needed and administer medication according to procedures.
  • Maintain medical records of assigned individuals and prepare medical reports in conjunction with the RN.
  • Attend team meetings to discuss changes in resident behavior and evaluate progress.
  • Maintain records and inventory of stock medications and medical supplies.
  • Provide in-service training to staff members on health-related topics.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current LPN license.
  • Completion of an approved LPN program and successful completion of the State Board Examination for licensing.
  • One year of nursing experience, preferably with a developmentally disabled or IDD population.
  • Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other controlled substances.
  • Ability to perform significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 50 lbs or more.
