About the position

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Mozaic plays a crucial role in providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Intensive Clinical Services, the counselor will conduct professional assessments, develop behavior support plans, and empower individuals to thrive in their environments. This position involves collaboration with treatment teams, training staff, and providing therapy to individuals and families, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for those served.

Responsibilities

  • Provide life-changing support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Conduct professional assessments and develop Behavior Support Plans, Interaction Guidelines, and Medication Monitoring Plans.
  • Collaborate with staff and treatment teams to ensure the effectiveness of support plans.
  • Track progress through data reviews and share updates in consultations.
  • Train staff on implementing plans and provide guidance on support techniques and social skills.
  • Provide therapy to individuals, families, or groups as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete clinical billing.
  • Support transitions including admissions, discharges, and referrals to other programs.
  • Visit sites to design interventions and provide hands-on training in person-centered approaches.

Requirements

  • New York State license in mental health counseling or a Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
  • Experience in working with challenging behavior and writing behavioral plans.
  • Facilitation of groups and provision of Social Work services to families or case management.
  • Five years of experience with cognitively or developmentally disabled individuals preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Experience with non-intellectually disabled individuals or families.
