About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Camellia at Deerwood plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care to residents while supervising the Wellness Department during their shift. This position involves coordinating resident care, delegating tasks to staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality personal care. The LPN acts as a team leader, responsible for maintaining a supportive environment and addressing any issues that arise in the absence of higher management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and delegate work assignments to ensure effective shift coverage.
  • Coordinate care for residents during the shift.
  • Supervise the delivery of personal care to residents.
  • Implement service plans and collect health data on residents.
  • Act as team leader, coaching and counseling staff on care practices.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in interactions with residents and families.
  • Report any suspected instances of abuse to the Wellness Director.
  • Administer medications according to physician orders and document accurately.
  • Conduct change of shift reports with oncoming/outgoing personnel.
  • Maintain security of medication cart and conduct narcotic counts.
  • Transcribe physician orders and notify pharmacy of changes.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and calmly.
  • Orient and assist with on-the-job training of new associates.
  • Monitor e-call system equipment for proper functioning.
  • Report significant changes in resident conditions to the physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must be a licensed nurse in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Experience in an Assisted Living setting preferred.
  • Dementia care experience preferred.
  • Good physical health and free of communicable diseases.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
