Library Associate - Teen Services

About the position

The Library Associate - Teen Services at the North County Regional Library is responsible for creating a welcoming environment and providing engaging programming for teens and preteens. This role involves leading various educational and recreational programs, facilitating outreach to community partners, and supporting the library's mission of fostering digital literacy and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead age-appropriate programs for teens and preteens including college and career readiness, leadership and life skills, STEAM programs, and Makerspace activities.
• Represent the library in the community and facilitate outreach to various community partners and schools.
• Participate in systemwide teams and collaborate with staff in Teen Services.
• Prepare program reports and perform circulation activities.
• Create and deliver programs to age-appropriate audiences.
• Provide research assistance to customers and utilize integrated library systems software.
• Provide service desk coverage and assist customers at several service points.
• Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes.
• Maintain the library's collection of materials, including shelving and marketing.
• Assist with the volunteen program and design inclusive programs for preteens and teens.
• Create and maintain attractive bulletin boards and displays.
• Promote and market library programs in collaboration with Marketing and Communications.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with culturally diverse teen populations.
• At least three years of customer service and/or administrative experience.
