About The Position

The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 203: Modern Physics. This course provides an overview of the fundamental ideas of modern physics and covers the principles of fluids and thermodynamics. Topics include fluids, temperature, heat, kinetic theory of gases, entropy, laws of thermodynamics, special relativity, wave-particle duality, quantum mechanics, atomic physics, electronic properties of solids, nuclear physics, the standard model, and cosmology.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the State of California.

  • A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields.
  • Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PHYS 203: Modern Physics - Lab during the Fall 2026 semester.
