About The Position

The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 201: Physics of Mechanics and Sound. This course provides a broad coverage of the principles of mechanics and wave motion, including observation and measurement, kinematics, dynamics, work and energy, impulse and momentum, equilibrium of rigid bodies, rotational motion, oscillations, and waves in mechanical media. The position is in-person and offers two sections: Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields.
  • Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
