About The Position

The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 102: Intro to Physics II. This course provides an overview of the principles of electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and modern physics. The areas covered include: electric charge, electric fields, electric potential, DC circuits, magnetism, magnetic fields, geometrical and physical optics, and atomic and nuclear physics. The position is in-person and will involve both lecture and lab components. The lecture is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., and the lab is scheduled for Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields.
  • Must be able to work in the State of California.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields.
  • Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PHYS 102: Intro to Physics II, including lecture and lab components.
