About the position
The Lecturer of Practice in Agricultural Sciences at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) is a full-time, non-tenure track position focused on teaching and service within the agricultural discipline. The role involves a 60% teaching commitment and 40% service responsibilities, primarily at the Houston Community College Katy campus. The position is designed to enhance the undergraduate program and support the SHSU HCC Agriculture Academy through teaching, student advising, and experiential learning activities.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Agriculture, including Intro to Prof Leadership Skills, Plant Science, Principles of Agricultural Economics, and Animal Science.
- Serve as the point of contact for the SHSU HCC Agriculture Academy.
- Assist in recruiting and advising students in the Agriculture Academy.
- Collaborate with SHSU faculty to develop and implement experiential learning activities in urban agriculture.
- Assist faculty with Leadership Development Events (LDE) and Career Development Events (CDE) hosted by SHSU.
Requirements
- An earned Master or Doctorate degree in an agricultural discipline is required.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach both disciplines are expected.
- High School, Community College or University teaching experience is preferred.
