About the position
We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative Lecturer who has experience teaching at the elementary education level and who values inclusion, multicultural competencies, learner-centered pedagogy, and social justice. The successful candidate will be expected to practice and model reflective teaching and learning as a member of collaborative/cooperative cohort teaching teams, working closely with university colleagues and professionals in regional partner schools. This position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in childhood education, curriculum development, and teaching methods, as well as supervising students in field experiences and contributing to program development.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in childhood education, curriculum development, and teaching methods.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate students in field experiences.
- Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
- Participate in service activities internal and external to campus.
- Contribute to program development.
Requirements
- Master's or Terminal degree in Education or related field
- NYS Teacher Certification, or equivalent
- 5 (five) years minimum of teaching experience in Prekindergarten - Grade 6 (P-6)
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience teaching Literacy
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Nice-to-haves
- Demonstrated expertise in P-6 Literacy and/or Science Methods
- Experience teaching at the college level
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse children and families
- Experience with New York State Learning Standards.
