About The Position

The Business Analyst collaborates with a variety of technical and business partners to define requirements for application development, develops required documentation and communicates status with the goal of delivering new functionality on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Business Subject Matter Experts to understand business request or pain point; analyzes business needs.
  • Evaluates project request in terms of strategic direction of Business and opportunities to leverage existing technologies/applications.
  • Fully investigates relevant application modules; analyzes existing data; prepares scenarios to test understanding of current process and impacts of requested changes, evaluates up/downstream effects.
  • Displays a natural curiosity to ferret out the best answer to complex challenges.
  • Seeks advice from technical counterparts: dev and architects.
  • Synthesizes/codifies requirements from a disparate group of users often focused on their own ‘siloed’ processes.
  • Demonstrates the confidence to ask questions, dig out details – often the BA is the person who knows the least in the room, but must still be able to flush out requirements/identify missing links.
  • Proactively identifies and champions opportunities to further streamline improve business process.
  • Clarifies scope, and recommends alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization.
  • Documents detailed requirements in Business Requirement Document (BRD), and validates solutions with the business partners.
  • Manages all communication with business users; keeps users informed and updated regularly. Adapts project updates/presentations to audience.
  • Serves as a liaison between technical and functional stakeholders; helps to keep initiatives moving forward smoothly and in accordance with project timelines.
  • Ensures QA understands project details and recommends testing scenarios; quickly researches and resolves issues identified during QA
  • Maintains/updates all relevant project documentation (Meeting notes/recaps; BRDs; flows; spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Strives to deepen knowledge of business functions/applications with goal to serve as senior subject matter expert in key system functions.
  • Participates in multiple key initiatives simultaneously.
  • Shares knowledge with other BAs; guides and advises less-experienced Business Analysts.
  • Works to continuously improve BA Process.
