About the position

The Lead-Technical Group Semiconductor position is responsible for supervising and leading a team of engineering and maintenance technicians during the assigned shift. The role focuses on ensuring the repair and process control of module equipment to meet safety, quality, yield, and throughput goals efficiently. The position requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage production associates effectively and to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads assigned shift engineering and maintenance technicians.
  • Ensures repair and process control of module equipment to meet shift goals.
  • Acts as the first level of escalation for module tools (process and repair).
  • Plans and supervises daily work assignments for engineering and maintenance technicians.
  • Maintains process control and production readiness in the module area.
  • Ensures module activities are performed effectively with high quality.
  • Supports operations and engineering teams in identifying and implementing improvement actions.
  • Provides direction to shift engineering, maintenance, onsite contractors, and vendors.
  • Responsible for training and developing direct reports and setting objectives.
  • Coordinates production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers within the module area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of supervisory experience with 2 years technical work experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or engineering.
  • High school diploma or GED plus 5 years of technical experience at First Solar.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical or electrical field with no experience.
  • Experience in vacuum system, thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical industrial applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems is required.
  • Excellent process and equipment troubleshooting and structural problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytic skills, and ability to lead a flexible workforce.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering controls, and equipment experience.
  • Familiarity with Asset Management and Maintenance applications like Maximo/CMMS, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite programs and analysis software.
  • Preferred certified Lean Six Sigma Green belt.
