About the position
The Lead Teacher at Children of America (COA) is responsible for planning and executing the curriculum for preschool children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This role involves working collaboratively with a team of educators in a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and the sharing of passion for early childhood education. The Lead Teacher will create a positive learning environment, ensuring the safety and emotional well-being of children while fostering their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
Responsibilities
- Plan daily lessons that support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child.
- Create a safe and structured learning environment.
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
- Handle the demands of infants and toddlers in different stages.
- Ensure a developmentally appropriate curriculum is instituted with a gentle touch.
- Be highly organized and empathetic to children's emotions and parents' needs.
- Utilize technology to deliver child progress updates to parents and other teachers.
- Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level.
- Be creative and passionate about work, while having fun.
Requirements
- CDA certification required.
- 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with children and parents.
- Commitment to professional development.
- Effective decision-making skills.
- First Aid/CPR trained.
- Meet all state requirements for the position.
