About the position

The position involves crafting web application software for Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, focusing on enhancing the media and metadata processing pipelines. The role is integral to building the infrastructure that supports Disney's media, advertising, and distribution businesses, ensuring a magical viewing experience for millions of consumers. The ideal candidate will contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation while managing project priorities and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Craft web application software using REACT, adhering to strong software development fundamentals and design principles.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Build quality products.
  • Provide on-call rotational support as needed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience in programming with Backend and Frontend UI development and proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Python, Java, Javascript, etc.).
  • Desire to work in a start-up, fast-growth, or rapid-change environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify the root cause.
  • Solid communication skills - written and oral.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and git source control.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience integrating media players into web applications.
  • Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of web standards and new technologies.
  • Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency.
  • Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines, and exposure to Git.
  • Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker.
  • Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, etc.).
