About the position

The Lead Software Engineer for the Email Campaign Pipeline at Klaviyo will play a crucial role in shaping the company's marketing engagement channel. This position involves building and operating scalable distributed systems that manage a high volume of email campaigns, impacting hundreds of thousands of global e-commerce businesses. The engineer will be responsible for developing features and services that enhance the email campaign pipeline, ensuring compliance with industry standards while delivering over 1 billion emails daily.

Responsibilities

  • Own and build features/services for the email campaign pipeline.
  • Craft a highly-scalable, highly-available email campaign pipeline that processes and delivers over 1 billion messages daily.
  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders on designs, implementations, and engineering practices.
  • Learn and apply new technologies to evolve systems.
  • Improve experimentation and development processes, mentoring other engineers.
  • Participate in the technical interview process to maintain a high bar for team quality.
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert, pushing for personal and team growth.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on complex system architecture.
  • Profound understanding of large-scale system architecture, technologies, and patterns.
  • Experience in performance and scalability issue resolution.
  • Data-driven mindset for product improvement and familiarity with system monitoring techniques.
  • Proven coaching and mentoring experience for team members.
  • Ability to work in small, high-performing autonomous agile teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python, Go, Django, MySQL, Redis, Memcached, Apache Zookeeper, Apache Pulsar.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, Aurora, etc.), Terraform, and Jenkins.
