About The Position

The Gordon Laboratory at Emory University is seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist Lead to spearhead experimental studies at the intersection of cancer biology, immunology, and metabolism. The position will focus on cellular and biochemical analyses aimed at understanding how microenvironmental factors influence cancer progression. Primary responsibilities will include experimental coordination, literature review, data analysis, development of new experimental workflows, preparation and presentation of oral and written reports, and support of laboratory operations. The Gordon Lab applies experimental and computational approaches to understand molecular signaling and biochemical pathways, and identify mechanisms that inform therapeutic development. Based in the Emory University Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, our laboratory benefits from close integration with translational and clinical research environments, including access to primary tissue samples and extensive opportunities for collaboration. Through our affiliation with the Pathology Advanced Translational Research Unit (PATRU), we work closely with investigators across pathology, immunology, and cancer biology. Our broader collaborations include partnerships with Georgia Tech in technology and computational method development, as well as connections to therapeutic translation through programs such as the Winship Cancer Institute Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Program. Our research program spans both academic and industry collaborations, providing exposure to rigorous basic science, translational research, and emerging opportunities at the interface of biology and therapeutic innovation. We strongly believe that the best science emerges from an environment of generous collaboration, supported by a culture of learning, curiosity, and the open sharing of skills and advice. In considering new members of our group, we value a positive attitude, strong evidence of prior success in laboratory settings, careful attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset that contributes positively to team culture. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a supportive and intellectually enriching environment.
