About the position

The Lead Payroll Partner is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both salary and hourly employees. This role ensures compliance with company policies and various regulations while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy. The Lead Payroll Partner will also focus on driving process and technology improvements to enhance efficiency and precision in payroll operations, collaborating closely with HR and other departments to provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the payroll processing, submission, reporting, and auditing for salary and hourly employees.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Federal, State, Local, and IRS regulations.
  • Manage the payroll cycle proactively to meet all payroll deadlines.
  • Provide excellent customer service and collaborate with HR and cross-functional departments.
  • Drive process and technology improvements for payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Execute day-to-day payroll processing responsibilities accurately and timely, including weekly processing and garnishment administration.
  • Support payroll for multiple legal entities across various states and provinces in the US and Canada.
  • Validate and ensure accuracy of data in Workday, including changes, hours, earnings, and retroactive adjustments.
  • Partner with stakeholders to process payroll in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll files and data.
  • Evaluate and analyze payroll processes for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in year-end projects including W-2 preparation and tax amendments.
  • Assist in special projects related to payroll processes and reporting.
  • Develop and publish key metrics to show the health of payroll and time processing.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive payroll-related experience.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of multi-state and local payroll tax experience.
  • Experience with federal and state labor laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables).
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Workday is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Canada payroll and expatriates is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
