About the position

The Lead Material Handling Equipment Operator at Staples plays a crucial role in the supply chain team by mentoring new material handlers and ensuring efficient operations within the warehouse. This position involves operating various material handling equipment, maintaining safety standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment to meet customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train new material handlers.
• Fill in for supervisors as needed.
• Lift, lower, and carry products in a fast-paced environment.
• Stack empty pallets and maintain a clean workspace.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures and promote a safety culture.

Requirements

• 12+ months related experience in a warehouse environment or equivalent training and education.
• Ability to pass a drug screen legally permissible.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull equipment/merchandise weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice-to-haves

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
