Responsibilities

  • Ensures the accurate assembly of instrument trays and/or equipment independently.
  • Utilization of the instrument tracking system and maintaining adequate sterilization of instrumentation and/or equipment by preparation of requested instrumentation and/or equipment for surgical and clinical procedures.
  • Assists with ensuring staff are following guidelines and assignments of tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Assists with orientation and everyday workflow of assignments of new employees.
  • Coordinates daily workflow with staff members to ensure timely completion.
  • Monitors workflow performed by staff to ensure correctness.
  • Demonstrates and understands principles of sterilization in preparing items for OR and clinic use.
  • Operates all sterilization and HLD equipment according to manufacture requirements and departmental policies.
  • Demonstrates and understands principles of decontamination and standard precautions.
  • Monitors and inventories the supplies and ensures instrumentation is available for OR and clinical areas.
  • Ensures implementation of standards within the quality assurance monitoring process and improvements are followed.
  • Maintains and reviews missing instrumentation.
  • Puts in requests for missing instrument orders and instrument par needed to maintain functioning instrument trays.

Requirements

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.
  • Relevant Work Experience: 3 years.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
