About the position

The Lead Generator Technician plays a vital role in the Generator Service Department, acting as an in-field technical expert under the supervision of the Regional Service Manager. This position involves providing leadership and support to service technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and maintaining customer satisfaction. The technician will also engage in troubleshooting, repairs, and safety compliance while promoting process improvements within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on power generation systems.
  • Conduct onsite troubleshooting and diagnostics of intricate mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving technologies in the industry.
  • Progress through the Generac technician certification program and complete continuing education requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive assessments of customers' needs and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with customers.
  • Provide real-time technical support to field technicians via calls, emails, and on-site visits.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements and recommend changes to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 plus years of power generation experience is required.
  • 2 plus years of technical troubleshooting experience required.
  • Generac Master Certified Technician or the ability to acquire it.
  • EGSA Journeyman Certification or the ability to acquire it.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a current driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • High level of electrical and mechanical aptitude revolving around power generation systems.
  • Extensive working knowledge of electrical systems ranging from 5 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • Ability to fluently read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Must be computer proficient, specifically with Microsoft 360 and various OEM proprietary controller software packages.
