About the position

The Lead Facility Technician is responsible for performing facility maintenance duties by responding to company-wide maintenance requests, maintaining the condition of the buildings and grounds, and coordinating work with contractors as needed. This position is also responsible for closing the buildings and as a possible on-site responder for security challenges. The work hours for this position are 9:30am - 6:00pm, Monday - Friday at our office located south of downtown St. Paul.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and monitor facility maintenance duties at the corporate office building (Scanlan) and the warehouse facility located next door (SGLC).
  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on buildings.
  • Assist with unscheduled repairs/troubleshooting of building, grounds and equipment working with outside contractors if needed.
  • Manage the Master Preventive Maintenance schedule, ensuring that work for both buildings is completed on time.
  • Communicate the status of projects with the Operations team, through email or verbally, on a daily basis.
  • Close the buildings for both Scanlan and SGLC at the end of business hours.
  • Respond to emergencies and support after hours facility needs and activities as planned, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Pick up mail daily.
  • Take inventory of and order janitorial supplies on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain condition of the buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly manner at both facilities.
  • Perform daily upkeep of the grounds, including trash pickup, addressing landscaping needs and any damaged areas.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly walkarounds of buildings and grounds, following checklists.
  • Complete seasonal tasks including sweeping, shoveling, operating a snowblower, and light lawn/landscape maintenance as needed.
  • Schedule any grounds work that is covered by contractors throughout the year.
  • Assist in monitoring the quality of the daily cleaning performed by the onsite cleaning contractor.
  • Assist with/complete requests for maintenance for Scanlan and SGLC facilities either hands on or through coordination with an approved contractor.
  • Respond to maintenance requests placed through the CMMS in a timely manner and enter notes in CMMS as tasks are completed.
  • Track open maintenance requests to ensure completion.
  • Perform backup duties for the Traffic Department including order picking and packing as needed.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or G.E.D.
  • 2+ years past experience doing facility/maintenance duties required.
  • Past experience working with contractors to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Past experience getting bids through suppliers is preferred.
  • Good communication skills using Microsoft Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of math.
  • Manual skills for lifting up to 20 pounds alone or possibly with assistance using PPE or other appropriate equipment.
  • Detail oriented.
