About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Data Engineer Expert to serve as a team lead to design, build, and optimize scalable backend and data integration systems. This role requires deep expertise across the full software development lifecycle, from system architecture to deployment, with a focus on data-intensive applications, performance optimization, and cross-platform integration. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments and can deliver high-impact solutions that support mission-critical operation.

Requirements

  • Top Secret SCI + Polygraph Clearance
  • 15 + years of related experience
  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in one of the following: Java, Python, Angular, Java Script, Go, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and optimizing ETL pipelines using frameworks such as Elastic Search, Kafka, and Airflow
  • Demonstrated experience with REST APIs
  • Hands on experience with AWS
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
  • Experience building data products in Apache Avro
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide bug fixes, enhancements, and Graphical User Interface (GUI) improvements to applications to meet operational requirements
  • Develop and modify application source code, in response to new requirements and requests for change
  • Provide enhancements to existing access controls and configurations, and monitor applications to meet operational requirements
  • Develop and deploy software, including in cloud environments
  • Integrate externally developed code into core libraries
  • Install and configure application software
  • Evaluate third party vendors and software partners
  • Design and develop Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Program Interfaces (APls)
  • Maintain design of software libraries, including the definition of module APIs, code organization, and compliance in coding standards. This work will emphasize modularity of the libraries, re-use of common code, clean interfaces between the subsystems and integrity of design
  • Provide ad-hoc user training to potential, new, and existing customers
  • Work with the configuration manager to ensure the integration of externally developed software into core software libraries
  • Develop, as assigned, a wide range of software to run on the Sponsor's networks. The software libraries include but are not limited to audio/video, image processing algorithms, OS and file systems, and device drivers
  • Assist the Sponsor in developing specific standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality release or release readiness
  • Adhere to Configuration Management standards and practices for software and infrastructure.
  • Conduct testing at all levels of the software development life cycle, to include regression testing, and adhere to strict testing procedure
