About the position

The Lead Bindery Operator is responsible for leading a team of over 20 employees in performing various hand and table work related to finishing machines. This role involves operating small finishing machines, performing daily maintenance, and ensuring product quality through periodic checks. The operator will also train new employees and maintain a clean and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 20+ employees in general hand and table work.
• Make mechanical adjustments to machines to ensure operational efficiency.
• Operate small finishing machines and perform hand stripping.
• Train new employees on job functions and safety procedures.
• Operate printing computers for carton labels.
• Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tasks.
• Maintain a clean work environment and uphold product quality standards.
• Perform minor maintenance on small machines as needed.
• Count products to ensure accuracy and distinguish colors for quality checks.
• Work on machine-driven processes such as card wrappers and pixie strippers.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience interacting with automated machinery.
• Ability to write and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and documents.
• Ability to count, measure, and perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
• Good attendance is required.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed, especially during busy periods.
• Ability to pass color vision and color hue tests.
