About the position

The Lead Accounting Instructor at Central Carolina Community College is responsible for facilitating transformative learning experiences in accounting through active engagement, hands-on skill development, and effective classroom management. This role emphasizes student success by fostering meaningful connections and providing personalized feedback, while also overseeing curriculum development and adjunct faculty supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students as full partners in the learning process and support their educational and career goals.
  • Create a variety of activities, assignments, and assessments to meet curriculum goals based on student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a dynamic instructional environment that promotes a positive and inclusive learning experience.
  • Manage a Blackboard course with a syllabus and gradebook for each class.
  • Grade assignments in a timely manner and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Respond to student communications within two business days.
  • Report attendance weekly and facilitate student learning for 15-20 contact hours per semester.
  • Maintain a weekly schedule of 35 hours on campus, including 5 required office hours.
  • Meet with each assigned advisee at least once per semester and help them develop educational plans.
  • Serve as the lead resource for the curriculum and chair the advisory board.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise adjunct faculty with support from the department chair.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual program budget and ensure student safety around equipment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a major in Accounting or a related discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting.
