About the position
The Adjunct Interior Design Instructor at Lanier Technical College is responsible for preparing and teaching interior design courses at the Forsyth Campus. This part-time, temporary position requires the instructor to provide professional instruction based on an approved syllabus, evaluate student progress, and maintain records of grades. The role emphasizes ensuring that course outcomes meet stated objectives and involves attending training and workshops as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach classes as assigned based on approved course syllabus.
- Ensure that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives.
- Prepare curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Administer and grade class examinations.
- Maintain records of student grades.
- Attend in-service training, workshops, and seminars as needed.
- Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training and laboratory areas.
- Meet all required deadlines.
- Meet with students, staff members, and supervisors as needed.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of industry work experience.
- Demonstrated competencies in specific course content.
- Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials.
- Knowledge of vocational area of assignment.
- Skill in presenting subject matter and administering tests to evaluate progress.
- Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs: Microsoft Office Suites, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of student information systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
- Teaching experience with online teaching platforms.
- Evening availability for afternoon courses.
