About the position
The Adjunct Accounting Instructor at Lanier Technical College is a part-time, temporary position responsible for preparing and teaching accounting classes at the Hall Campus. The instructor will ensure that course outcomes meet the stated objectives, prepare curriculum and syllabus, evaluate student progress, and maintain records of student grades. This role requires effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with adult learners and meet educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach classes as assigned based on approved course syllabus.
- Ensure that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives.
- Prepare curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Administer and grade class examinations.
- Maintain records of student grades.
- Attend in-service training, workshops, and seminars as needed.
- Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas.
- Meet all required deadlines.
- Meet with students, staff members, and supervisors as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree in accounting or closely related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three years appropriate work experience.
- Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials.
- Knowledge of vocational area of assignment.
- Skill in presenting subject matter and administering tests to evaluate progress.
- Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of student information systems.
Nice-to-haves
- A CPA license and/or other professional license related to accounting.
- Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
