About the position

The Knitwear Technical Designer at Misha and Puff is responsible for developing tech packs from conception to production, ensuring quality and fit consistency across products. This role requires strong technical skills in apparel production and effective communication with both internal teams and external vendors to meet deadlines and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Design and Production Teams to translate product concepts into technical drawings.
  • Ensure size and fit consistency within brand and across product category through creation and maintenance of Tech Packs that accurately capture all aspects of design, including garment measurements, grading, and detailed technical sketches and construction details.
  • Review all sample prototypes regarding construction and fit, matching back to initial tech pack and historical styles.
  • Measure all prototypes, SMS, and fit samples prior to fittings.
  • Prepare fit samples prior to fittings and participate in fitting with designer and production team.
  • Communicate all fit corrections including detailed construction changes or pattern changes in tech pack.
  • Inspect TOP samples to match PP approvals.
  • Develop and edit tech packs, documenting fit comments, specs, and PP/TOP comments.
  • Execute and monitor seasonal styles from development to production to maintain production calendar, and escalate to management accordingly.
  • Communicate daily with overseas factories on fit changes and any changes that may affect delivery as well as answering any of their questions.
  • Work closely with production team to ensure quality garments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct technical design experience, preferably with kids and knitwear experience.
  • Experience with an early to mid-stage start-up.
  • Understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process from inception through production.
  • Strong technical drawing skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Clothing & Textiles or related major or equivalent business experience.
