About the position

The Kitchen Technician is responsible for maintaining hotel kitchen equipment in optimal condition, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and staff. This role involves performing general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various kitchen equipment, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance on all kitchen equipment including boilers, chillers, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Take required readings on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Replace and repair pumps as needed.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains and changing fittings.
  • Trace and repair all types of water lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate repair and preventative maintenance records.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes.
  • Greet guests encountered on hotel property and follow proper entry procedures into guest rooms.
  • Participate as a member of the Fire Alarm Response Team.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Work with both hot and cold kitchen equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of hotel/resort experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in kitchen maintenance.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects, exceeding 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Basic computer knowledge is helpful.
  • Good command of the English language for effective communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with safety equipment and protocols.
  • Knowledge of additional maintenance skills beyond kitchen equipment.
