About the position

The Kitchen Staff Substitute position at Opaa! Food Management, Inc. involves performing essential kitchen functions on an as-needed basis. This role is crucial for maintaining food quality, safety, and presentation while assisting in various kitchen operations and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with set-up of serving lines and ensure food is held at required temperatures.
  • Prepare foods according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain dishwashing equipment and store clean dishes appropriately.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as required by the menu plan and present them appealingly.
  • Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation of food.
  • Set up serving lines and ensure food is held at proper temperatures.
  • Serve food items with proper serving sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
  • Keep serving lines stocked with food items and utensils as needed.
  • Prepare foods in compliance with menu plans and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate daily production records and follow HACCP processes.
  • Report unsafe working conditions and participate in safety programs.
  • Attend required meetings and complete training hours as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, or up to one month related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
  • Certification in food safety or handling.
