About The Position

The Primary Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, or Grade 2. The teacher delivers standards-based instruction aligned with curriculum frameworks, uses data to inform instruction, collaborates with colleagues and families, and fosters a positive classroom community that promotes student growth and achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • Valid MA teaching license/certification in Early Childhood Education required.
  • Experience working with primary-aged students.
  • Knowledge of child development and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
  • Implement district curriculum and instructional programs aligned with state standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technology tools to engage learners.
  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Assess student learning using formal and informal measures.
  • Analyze assessment data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families.
  • Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI/MTSS) and Student Support Team processes as needed.
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations, routines, and procedures.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Support students’ social-emotional development and promote positive peer interactions.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that maximize instructional time.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, interventionists, and administrators.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-based initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively to support school goals and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain professional standards and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and engage in ongoing professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
