About the position

Kinder Camp serves our youngest camper population comprised of 3.5-5-year-old campers who have not yet attended Kindergarten. We offer half-day and full-day options to the campers in the program. Campers will enjoy days filled with fun unique themed activities that include: music, arts, field trips, crafts, games, physical activities, and additional opportunities for learning, and much more. Many camp activities will be outdoors, weather permitting. Camp will run from 8:30am-3:30pm each day in and around the Community Center, Nursery School Rooms. We also offer Before Care from 7:30am - 8:45am and After Care from 3:30pm-6:30pm. The Kinder Camp Manager's will help with the planning and delivery of camp programs and staff training and assist in the management of overall camp operation at the direction of the Camp Manager and Community Center Coordinator. We seek patient, cheerful, energetic, creative, reliable, and responsible staffers who enjoy working with children and have a demonstrated strong interest in a variety of activities. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Camp Manager with administration and logistics before, during, and after each camp session.
  • Support staff with general needs, inquiries, and facilitation of camp activities.
  • Participate in and help facilitate staff training at the beginning of and throughout the summer.
  • Assist with day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure and enjoyable environment.
  • Enforce all safety regulations including keeping campers and program areas clean and safe.
  • Anticipate and minimize potential problems with staff, campers or the environment and respond effectively to problems that occur.
  • Apply camp policies and procedures in responding and/or disciplining staff and campers.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Communicate with parents about participant's experiences and report concerns to camp leadership.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of hazardous objects.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Lead activities for camp as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience as a supervisor, manager, or other leadership position.
  • Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, effectively communicate with children and adults and manage large and small groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft or Google software is preferred.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible if there are last minute changes.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willing to become certified before camp preferred.
  • Available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am-6:00pm.
  • Available for the mandatory orientation prior to camp (dates TBD).
  • Available to work all four camp sessions and assist with pre-camp preparation.

Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $16.87 - 20.24/hour
