About the position

The Kinder Bilingual Teacher at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is responsible for providing effective instruction to students in a bilingual setting, utilizing various teaching methods including distance, virtual, and face-to-face learning. The role aims to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while ensuring they develop the necessary competencies to succeed in society. The teacher will create lesson plans, assess student learning, and maintain communication with parents and staff to support student development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles and needs.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and staff through various platforms during designated office hours.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves
