About the position
The K-8 Teacher for 7th/8th Grade Math/Science at Jefferson Parish Schools is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of students. This role involves creating a supportive learning environment, implementing effective teaching strategies, and maintaining accurate records. The teacher will engage with students, parents, and school personnel to foster educational development and ensure compliance with educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of students.
- Use instructional materials and various techniques to enhance student achievement.
- Maintain accurate records including attendance, health records, and report cards.
- Develop and implement effective classroom management techniques.
- Plan and prepare lesson plans on a weekly basis.
- Report regularly and punctually to assigned work locations.
- Notify the principal of impending absences and provide adequate plans for substitutes.
- Maintain classroom books and equipment properly.
- Evaluate student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Encourage parental involvement in student progress and needs.
Requirements
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Strong writing skills
- Effective communication skills in English
