About The Position
The Junior Estimator reports to the Estimator. His or Her primary responsibility is to prepare cost estimates & takeoffs for residential, commercial, and municipal building projects based on the use of construction plans and industry knowledge.
Requirements
- Able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Experience and familiarity with the civil construction industry
- Clear and fluent knowledge of computers and experience working with Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to use CAD programs
- Exceptional communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an engineering or construction management program
- Related construction experience
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness and potential conflicts.
- Identify missing information and assist in the preparation of RFI’s
- Understand contractual terms and conditions as it pertains to the final bid
- Assist with the preparation of bid packages and proposals
- Provide detailed quantity takeoffs including earthwork, utilities, concrete, erosion control and related scopes
- Request and organize subcontractor quotations
- Meet with potential clients for pre-bid walks
