About the position

The Junior Engineer position within the Municipal Utilities Department of the City of Stockton involves performing a variety of professional civil engineering tasks related to the development, design, and inspection of public works projects. The role supports the Engineering Division's efforts in managing water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities, ensuring compliance with city and state standards. The position is full-time and operates on a 9/80 work schedule, providing a structured yet flexible work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional civil engineering tasks of routine to complex nature.
  • Review, examine, and evaluate subdivision master plans and development improvement plans.
  • Assist in the design and inspection of public works projects.
  • Provide engineered solutions to operational and maintenance issues.
  • Support the Capital Improvement Program by overseeing various engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current enrollment in the last two semesters/three quarters of a Bachelor's degree program in civil engineering or a related field with a minimum of 30 units remaining.
  • Possession of a valid California Engineer-In-Training Certificate (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training Certificate (LSIT).
  • Valid California driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public works projects.
  • Knowledge of California engineering standards and codes.
