About the position

The City of Napa is seeking a Junior/Assistant Engineer to support the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of public works projects. As a Junior/Assistant Engineer in the Construction Division, you will provide construction project management of a wide range of municipal construction projects, including roadway improvements, public buildings, parks, and other essential community infrastructure. Working as part of a project team, you will assist with scheduling, budget tracking, contractor oversight, on-site inspections, contract and project management to support timely, cost-effective, and compliant project delivery. You will also help ensure adherence to safety standards and local, state, and federal regulations. The role requires a solid foundation in construction management practices, a well-rounded blend of technical knowledge, leadership, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction project management for municipal construction projects.
  • Assist with scheduling and budget tracking.
  • Oversee contractors and conduct on-site inspections.
  • Manage contracts and project management to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
